I Miss You, Pa…

Wandering here and there to catch a glimpse of yours
Couldn’t believe the news of your demise, be it from any source

Waited the entire day for you to be home
You never came back and I stopped to roam

Felt a tear drop on my cheeks as I realised you wore the shroud
There I was crying, so alone amidst the crowd

The outburst happened when I looked at my brother and my mum
What are we without you ? Are you really not gonna come?

Time is a healer but that is really not the case
Everyday without you is tough, a lacuna which no one can replace.

The struggle has been real but my cries were never loud
Your girl has grown big, you always were so proud

They say, I’m just like you, a copy, a xerox
What I am today, I learned from you and stored in a box

You made me, strong, fearless, kind, helpful and wise
Few people admire these traits and it’s no surprise

And those who call themselves my foes for the humanity they lack
I’m not alone, watch out, my father has got my back

I achieved many milestones in life but you were not there
Lauded by all but it was you with whom I wanted to share

You are my hero, a picture I can always draw
Till this day, I feel your absence and I miss you, Pa
